Tip of the Week: "Nutrients do not behave the same in whole foods as when isolated. The healthful properties of fatty plant foods like nuts, seeds, and avocados cannot be obtained by consuming only their extracted and highly concentrated oils. When we eat the oil, we strip away much of the good stuff." ~ Center for Nutrition Studies

The goal of the Food for Life Kids Health program is to focus on highlighting the positives of good foods (whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables) rather than the negatives of less favorable foods. It is not intended to cause immediate dietary changes among the children, but rather to expose children to new foods that encourage and inspire healthful eating for long-term disease prevention. The classes focus on the positive inspiration of food and include fun games. It is designed for a target audience of children 9 to 12 years old, in grades 4 through 6. The curriculum can be used with slightly younger children, but does not work well with children older than 12. This is a four class series, but single classes are also offered.
